I'm not sure anymore...

I'm not sure whether I should go in August, or go for the 2012-2013 year...I thought I should go in August, but...I'm really lost now...I want to keep my host family, but I want to go for the whole year! This is a really difficult choice as it affects my whole life....WHAT SHOULD I DO???

Pro's to August:
-same host family
-I get to go sooner
-I graduate with my friends (not that I really care either way)
-I'll be with a class my age at school

Cons:
-LESS TIME!!!

Pro's to year:
-I'll be there a year like I wanted
-I'll get to be there in the summer and for the beginning of school
-MORE TIME!

Cons:
-probably have to change host families
-graduate late
-have to wait longer to go
-I'll be the oldest in my class...

I went back to school today feeling like I shouldn't be there...

Stupid complications. I don't know what to do anymore.

  1. I totally understand where you're coming from but I think that it would be wisest (but not best) to just go in august for a semester. It definitely ruins the whole dream but it's best for school and it can change the rest of your life...I understand your pain so much but I guess you have to think of it in the long run as well..;_____; I wish we didn't need to go through this at all...

  2. Yeah...I'm leaning towards August, and I'll probably end up doing that, but when I hear other people say they're just gonna go next year, I feel really jealous that they're getting the full year...

  3. I'm so jealous as well and I still haven't gotten over it... do you plan on going to japan for 4 year college?

  4. I would choose to go for a full year next year if it was me. I've heard from so many people who went for just one semester, that they regretted it and wished they would've gone for a whole year. Going for one year just gives you access to a lot more of the country's culture, and it allows you to connect better with people!
For example, my first 6 months of exchange was just confusing and kinda blurry, and I don't feel like I've been able to enjoy everything fully till now!
I hope everything end up working out for you!

  5. @Yukari: I want to, but I'm not really sure since I haven't looked into college at all yet.
